Big Wheel by JPM: the £10 machine with a fairground feature board

Big Wheel barely needs an introduction once you see the top glass. JPM built the feature layout around an enormous fairground wheel, complete with spokes and numbered positions. The £10 jackpot sits in the centre of the photographed cabinet, giving the whole board a clear focal point.

The wheel takes up most of the upper half of the machine. Around its rim are cash, nudge and other feature positions, while numbered sections run along the spokes. Beside it, a tall Cash Box panel is filled with rows of coin symbols. It is a much more individual design than a generic rectangular feature trail.

The fairground setting continues in the artwork at the bottom of the board. There is enough detail to give the machine a seaside flavour without covering the main game positions. Large lettering on the right leaves no doubt about which machine you are looking at.

Below the wheel are three reels, with fruit, bells, bars and sevens. A small nudge ladder sits to the left of the reel window. To the right is the number display area used with the Hi and Lo controls, so the wheel is only one part of the cabinet's layout.

The buttons include Cancel, Hold, Hi, Lo and Collect, with the main Start control at the far right. The £10 all-cash jackpot is stated on the glass; that is the version shown here.

Big Wheel's strongest design choice is also its simplest: the name, artwork and feature layout all point to the same thing. You can recognise it from across an arcade, and the wheel remains the detail that separates it from other JPM machines.
