Blackpool’s iconic Coral Island arcade is expanding its seaside magic to Weston-super-Mare, with bold plans to breathe new life into the long-empty Marks & Spencer building. The ambitious proposal promises to transform the site into a vibrant entertainment destination, featuring a state-of-the-art arcade, bowling alley, crazy golf, and a cutting-edge virtual reality suite, all complemented by an enticing food and drink lineup, including a retro-style sweet shop.
The developers aim to revitalise the heart of the town with this dynamic venue, inviting locals and visitors to experience fun and excitement right on Regent Street. The plans, set to open up the building with new, welcoming storefronts, are designed to enhance the overall appeal and draw of Weston’s town centre.
A thrilling addition to the project is the division of the ground floor into two unique attractions: the Coral Island Candy Bar, brimming with treats, and Coral Island Casino Slots, offering a dedicated space for gaming thrills. This fresh concept promises to attract a diverse crowd, from families enjoying a day out to thrill-seekers looking for excitement.
The redevelopment comes on the heels of previous plans, which saw approval for a pub and AGC in the same location in 2023, though progress stalled. With a new vision in place, North Somerset Council is gearing up for public consultation in early October, with a final decision expected by October 29. If approved, Coral Island will bring a wave of energy and entertainment to Weston-super-Mare, creating a must-visit destination on the coast.
