Easter 2023 at Retropolis Classic Amusements, Southend

This Retropolis feature belongs to Easter 2023. It is a look back at the Southend classic-amusement scene, so the Easter announcement should not be used for this year’s opening times or events.

The attraction of a classic arcade is often recognition. You spot a cabinet you remember, take a closer look at the glass and start recalling the features you used to watch for. For someone discovering older machines for the first time, the artwork and physical reels can be just as interesting.

Retropolis was the subject of this seasonal post because of that interest in older amusements. The surviving article does not provide a reliable full machine list or a detailed account of the Easter programme, so there is no reason to invent one.

If the post has put Southend on your list for a visit, check the venue’s current information before setting off. An old event announcement can bring back a good memory; it cannot tell you which cabinets will be on the floor today.
