Red Alert by JPM: The £15 Fire Brigade Fruit Machine

Red Alert makes its fire brigade theme hard to miss. The title is set in huge red letters, flames edge the panels, and a cartoon firefighter appears beside the ladders and the reel window. The cabinet shown here is JPM’s £15 version.

The upper glass is arranged around three ladders. Blue feature names run up the left, cash awards fill the middle and green nudge values sit on the right. Having those three tracks side by side is the most distinctive part of the layout.

Red Alert Fruit Machine Is smokin!!

Look closely and the theme carries into the feature names: Crash & Burn, Smoke Screen, Ring of Fire and Towering Inferno are all printed on the glass. Across the lower panel are more fire-related labels, including Blaze of Glory, Flash Point, Fire Ball and Flame Thrower.

The three reels sit below the ladders, beside a Hi-Lo number window. The photographed cabinet also has an Exchange button between Collect and Start, reflecting a game with more decisions than simply spinning the reels and waiting for a matching line.

Red Alert is a good example of how a strong theme and a clear board layout can make a fruit machine memorable. Its three ladders are easy to recognise even from a distance. The awards and controls described here belong to the pictured £15 setup; this is not a claim that every program version behaves the same way.
